Nato nel 1079, si approccia alla chitarra nel 1995 in un piccolo paesino del centro Italia, in mezzo al nulla artistico.

Chitarristicamente nasce nelle piene influenze Death Metal, Grind, Hardcore old style, Thrash Metal, Experimental, pur non disdegnando i grandi classici, sempre ottimi didatticamente.

Nel 2002 viene seguito dal maestro Marco Vitali per affinare il versante più estremo della teoria musicale.
Come musicista, ha collaborato con No Lost, Kaos Engine, Scala Mercalli, Slaves, Ibridoma, Infernal Angels, Jackstraw, Dark Reflection.
Attualmente è impegnano con OsseltioN, Deathcvlt, In Lacrimaes Et Dolor, Feasting, SorGHuM, Kthâvâ, Blackhorn Terror Crew, Culsu, Bava D’Argento o a nome semplicemente Ulag.

Parallelamente avvia l’ attività di promoter, basata unicamente sull’underground, organizzando in quasi 20 anni centinaia di concerti ed eventi.

Dal 2004, inizia la carriera di recording/producer dopo aver studiato con Riccardo Poto (ex socio di Ivan Graziani), continuando poi l’apprendimento con masterclass e scritti di Tony Maserati, David M. Huber, Robert E. Runstein, Umberto Nicolao, Santeri Salmi, Ulf Blomberg, Dave Otero, Kristian Kohle, Maurizio Nichetti (????...ebbene si!), Dan Weller, Urlich Wild, Kevin Antreassian, Stefan Boman.

Da autodidatta, studia & cerca costantemente segreti e tecniche, spesso atipiche, di Colin Richardson, Scott Burns, Andy Sneap, Tomas Skogsberg, Rick Rubin, Neil Kernon, Erik Rutan, Chris Lord Alge (YES!), nonché notizie dai maggiori studi di registrazione.
Co-fonda con Lorenzo Petrini uno studio di registrazione con pochi mezzi ma molta volontà, chiamato SoulSound Studios, essenzialmente un primo approccio alle produzioni professionali.
Passa poi al professionismo ufficiale aprendo il DPF Studio, con cui comincia ad affacciarsi sulla scena internazionale.
Dal 2017, torna all'antico nome della sua attività: Ulag Zone.
Qui si realizzano produzioni, recordings, mixtering (mix+mastering) di stampo estremo, colonne sonore e theme dai molteplici utilizzi e si sviluppano progetti di vario tipo, dai videoclip, cortometraggi, creazione di hardware...ed altro verrà!

Nella sua carriera ha avuto il piacere e l'onore di lavorare/collaborare con artisti nazionali ed internazionali quali: Blaze Bayley, Ralph Scheeprs, Lacuna Coil, Shaman, Necrodeath, Paul Di'Anno, Michael Baskette, Max Morton, George Kollias, Olaf Thorsen, Crehated, Giacomo Voli, Speaking To The Deaf, Antagonism, Dariusz "Daray" Brzozowski, Valadier, Dark Reflection, Apostate, Crysalys, Adamas, Haegen, Necandi Homines, Hesperia, Hobo, Nu.Ira, Marco Iannetta, Cesareo, Paolo Ojetti, Morby, Infernal Angels, Carnal Destruction, solo per citarne i più noti.

Da sempre percorre un binario artistico; da una parte la tradizione Old Style, inprescindibile, dall’altro si spinge avanti verso l’innovazione di quello che fu, traghettandolo verso correnti più moderne ed per alcuni casi, decisamente più professionali.

Born in 1979, Ulag  approached the guitar in 1995 in a small village in central Italy, in the middle of artistic nowhere.

Guitaristically, him was born under strong influences of Death Metal, Grind, old-style Hardcore, Thrash Metal, and Experimental, while not disdaining the great classics, which are always excellent for learning.

In 2002, he was mentored by Maestro Marco Vitali to refine the more extreme side of music theory.

As a musician collaborated with No Lost, Kaos Engine, Scala Mercalli, Slaves, Ibridoma, Infernal Angels, Jackstraw, Dark Reflection.

Currently, he are involved with OsseltioN, Deathcvlt, In Lacrimaes Et Dolor, Feasting, SorGHuM, Kthâvâ, Blackhorn Terror Crew, Culsu, Bava D’Argento, or simply under the name Ulag.

In parallel, he started their activity as a promoter, based solely on the underground, organizing hundreds of concerts and events in almost 20 years.

Since 2004, they began his recording/producer career after studying with Riccardo Poto (former partner of Ivan Graziani), he continuing their learning with masterclasses and writings by Tony Maserati, David M. Huber, Robert E. Runstein, Umberto Nicolao, Santeri Salmi, Ulf Blomberg, Dave Otero, Kristian Kohle, Maurizio Nichetti (????...yes, indeed!), Dan Weller, Urlich Wild, Kevin Antreassian, Stefan Boman.

As a self-taught individual, Ulag constantly study & search for secrets and techniques, often atypical, from Colin Richardson, Scott Burns, Andy Sneap, Tomas Skogsberg, Rick Rubin, Neil Kernon, Erik Rutan, Chris Lord Alge (YES!), as well as news from major recording studios.

He co-founded with Lorenzo Petrini a recording studio with limited resources but great will, called SoulSound Studios, essentially a first approach to professional productions.

He moved on to official professionalism by opening DPF Studio, with which he began to enter the international scene.

Since 2017, Mauro Ulag is returned to the old name of their activity: Ulag Zone.

Here, extreme productions, recordings, mixtering (mix+mastering), soundtracks, and themes for multiple uses are created, and various types of projects are developed, from video clips, short films, hardware creation... and more will come!

He has always followed an artistic path; on one hand, the indispensable Old Style tradition, on the other, pushing forward towards the innovation of what was, ferrying it towards more modern and, in some cases, decidedly more professional currents.
